Women photographers

1203The fight to gain equity in the recognition of women in the art world just keeps on having to be repeated. The historical biases just do not go away.

But then along comes something that is really strange.

There’s a piece in The Guardian that publishes a group of photographs by women that the writer lists as being forgotten. There is one big problem with this statement and the list of photographers.

They are well-known successful photographers. The article has been sent on to several people and we have all had the same reaction. Why has someone portrayed these women as being ‘lost’ when they are not or – was it just so that someone could claim that now they have been ‘found’ Very strange indeed.
