Bayside Art Gallery exhibition

Last week we travelled across Melbourne to the Bayside Art Gallery in Brighton to see the National Gallery of Australia’s travelling exhibition Max Dupain and Ansel Adams: In search of perfection. The exhibition opened 20th June and is open till 30 August 2026.
We were there for about two hours and were impressed with the constant flow of people through the exhibition. It was a modest number of visitors but the flow was constant with people stopping to enjoy each image.
Seeing the pairing of Dupain and Adams through this exhibition was very enjoyable. The exhibition was curated by Anne O’Hehir, the curator of photography at NGA.

We spoke to the curator and they confirmed how popular the exhibition was with people signing up for the talks. The local main street had advertising in key points – a sign of the gallery being well connected to its local community.

Gael has a presentation to make at the gallery on Thursday 13th August – and we may upload the text from that later on our main web site.
Meanwhile, if you are in Melbourne, this is a highly recommended exhibition – a must see!
