Comment on Australian Journalism
I have long been disappointed by the quality of Australian journalism. This includes the quality of the work being done through the ABC as well as most mainstream media. It has become far to easy to churn out any story without checking facts.
The recent sad episodes involving the terrorism threat, which is real, has been mishandled by the press to the extent that people would have no idea now what is the truth and what is just political posturing.
At last one the journalist has called her colleagues out and has asked them to think again about how they spread stories without checking the sources and the facts.

This problem goes back years – and was identified by Nick Davies in his book on the death of the media – click here.
