When journalists sane wash

A significant number of commentators have called on the media to stop sane washing bad behaviour of particular politicians and their lackeys. This call went unheeded during the run up to the last US elections and so a gang of self serving mobsters are now in the White House. I would have expected better from the The Atlantic.

The Atlantic publishes many well written articles. Definitely worth the subscription.

BUT

A recent article was published about the goings-on of the Murdoch family with a particular focus on James Murdoch. There is nothing positive to be said about this family. The world is not a better place because of their decades of damage to society.

Maybe one of them has now thought better of some of the goings-on of the rest of his immediate family, but up to recently he was part of the problem. And to quote from the last sentence of the article:

Maybe nobody wanted to hear a rich heir from a powerful family complain about his father. History had plenty of those.

Could not agree more!

I had started to read the article but lost interest very quickly. Later I tried again – but again became bored and started to skim. Then I realised how enormous the piece was. My word count was about 14,000 words or more.

Really!

Too much of the article was about being understanding of members of this family given how horrible certain other members are – and continue to be.

This could have been a much shorter article that needed to resist the temptation to sane wash any role that James Murdoch has within this empire. It is an evil empire and everyone who is and has been involved needs to be held to account for their actions or lack of actions.

If you are interested – and if you can get a free read – here’s the link.

If I am wrong about James Murdoch, maybe he would like to make contact and I could advise him on how to spend most of his money on arts and cultural initiatives here in Australia.
