warning for all downsizers!

There are regular articles appearing about people’s experiences with living in apartments and dealing with those who take it on themselves to be the body corporate manager – on behalf of everyone else of course!

There are tales of how these blokes (they are usually blokes) police everyone to keep the owners in line with the rules as they consider they should be enforced.

Many of these autocratic types oversee the slow downgrade of the building through not paying attention in a timely manner to the buildings’ maintenance.

And watch out any owner who makes a complaint about how things are being run – or in reality how things are not being done. These blokes are not nice beings and their life’s work is now guarding ‘their castles!’

There was a good piece in The Guardian recently that I could somewhat identify with.

Most of us who have down-sized and moved into an apartment, have done so without first understanding the complexities of what we are now to be engaged with.
