TV series review: Missing You

To say it upfront and clearly, Missing You a TV five part series from 2025 is a dud.
The Guardian gave it 3 stars out of 5 stars; far too generous.
Here’s another review that outlines most of what is wrong with this silly series – and who was still too kind with their rating of one and half stars. Rotten Tomatoes gave it an audience rating of 32%.
This deserves one star only and that is for providing a fabulous example of how to produce a really absurd fictional TV crime drama.
Not a lot to like. Set somewhere in the UK, (Spoiler Coming!!) with a police detective who has a network of friends and colleagues, all of whom are lying to her or at least holding back information – and she has no idea where her fiancé disappeared to and loads of other stuff that she should know (or at least be able to find out) but has not. A good detective??
(Another spoiler Coming!!)The story has a parallel story about some guy and his gang who kidnap peole and then toture them to get access to their bank accounts and then murder each victim. All done very violently; all very gratuitously violent!
Any good TV crime series asks you to accept a level of fiction. The demand here is beyond the pale – totally cringeworthy and laughable!
To repeat: one star only and that is too generous.
