The Margaret Preston exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria is one of those must see exhibitions for anyone with an interest in Australian art. There’s about 200 works and there’s loads to enjoy and to think about!
Rather than writing a review, click on this review. It covers the exhibition well and the reviewer gets it right – most of the time. What also impressed, was how so many of those visiting the exhibition were seriously taking their time with the works. Yes they read the labels, but then stood there to see for themselves what was there and to enjoy your own interpretations. Here’s a few images of the exhibition:

Before I went to the exhibition, I had purchased a copy of Lesley Harding’s book the Saturday before and had it read in one day.

Highly recommended – and a must to read before or even after you visit the exhibition!
