With reports about the coming of much improved batteries by which households will be able to store their solar power, the concept of whole suburbs going off the grid is starting to be discussed.

This is going to be a worry for the energy providers who have till recently had the power (pun intended) to gouge their residents. All this is the reasons why our present national government is doing its best to kill off the alternative energy sector. Their mates in Big Coal do not want the competition and want to keep their generous subsidies.
