Royal portrait unfortunate failures

King Charles in soiled suit

I was visiting my local framers when I noticed that they had the portrait of Prince Charles for sale – again. They have been selling these portraits for a couple of years now.

He commented that it sold well and  then asked whether I had seen the more recent portrait of Charles in the official portrait as the King?

There’s the one at the top by himself and the joint portrait below:

The comment was made that while Charles has a slight bend in the way he walks and stands, in this ‘official’ portrait his stance and the choice of suit made him look a little dishevelled.

Someone should have made the effort to insist the suit was more suitable for the offical portrait that is now in circulation and used by peoples and governments around the Commonwealth – including Australia.

Then I looked at the portraits more closely and noticed something more unfortunate. There are stains on the jacket between the buttons, stains on the pocket and on the bottom of the jacket – and maybe even a loose thread.

dark stain!!

and is that a loose thread?

oh dear!!!

I think the royal household did not do their job. Surely the photographers could have carried out a quick photoshop job on the images before they were submitted.

Then again, as the royal family struggles with their profile, maybe there is a special marketing of their image that says they are not perfect; and that Charles is like many older blokes who do not care how they dress.

Or maybe there was a simpler reason; Charles had just come in from doing the gardening!

One more observation.

That’s a lot of gold bling on the walls and everywhere behind them. Given this everyday standard of bling is what it takes to signify royalty in the 21st century, you can see why the Dear Leader King of the USA is trying hard to match or maybe to outdoor the UK royals!

But for now the rest of us must get back to the more interesting things and other Life Matters!
