Advance notice for a Canberra Public Art Festival for later in 2016.
Contour 556 is to be a three-week public art festival in Canberra 21 October – 13 November 2016 on the foreshores of Lake Burley Griffin (and other locations).
The festival is to features fifty local, national and international artists, encompassing artworks, performances, sound installations, music, and digital projections responding to the layers of Canberra’s history.
The event will be staged around the major cultural institutions, the National Library of Australia; the National Gallery of Australia, the High Court of Australia and the Kingston Arts Precinct.
The event is the first of its kind for the Canberra region, and there is scope to see it become a biennial fixture in the visual arts calendar, attracting local, national and international visitors.
The festival is a project by Harris Hobbs Public Projects and focuses on bringing their landscape architectural training, research and practice to the curatorial component of sculpture, digital and performance art.
